Your eating habits may show a thing or two about your personality

Sometimes I think food is more than something we just eat. They can be an indicator or measurement of people. And no, I’m not talking about that “you are what you eat” phrase or “what does your food tell about you”. I’m talking about how they perceive food, as in their eating habits, and that can be possibly be used to determine how they behave and treat others. At least, based on my observation.

Most of the ‘test subjects’ are my family and friends, so I cannot tell for sure and ensure that this will always be correct (since everyone is different, duh), but here’s what I find about their eating habits and how it is linked to their general behavior.

  • They force you to eat something you don’t like – From what I have noticed, these kinds of people are likely to be very opinionated and hate rejection or to be disagreed with. If they tell us to eat a food that we don’t like, chances are they also have no problem about forcing their views or ideas to others.
  • They don’t want to eat something new or different – They don’t like to eat a dish that looks or smells unusual, even if it’s actually delicious. When they are traveling overseas, they are difficult to please and maintain, and will often bring their own food, or probably will go look for a restaurant that is familiar to them. This may also reflect their problems in expanding their minds. May also be not the most open-minded people around. They could also be similar with those who like only one kind of dish. On the other hand, those who are enthusiastic with trying exotic meals are likely to be adventurous, daring, and willing to learn.
  • They are picky eater – Just as how they consider whether they are gonna like this food or not (not to be confused with the previous point), these people are likely to be very calculating, quirky, and really value time. They would rather do and invest on something that has clear goals and benefits them in a long term rather than short-term win. They mostly will not enjoy doing something that they don’t like, just like how they don’t want to waste food the moment they taste it and find that it is not their cup of tea. Additionally, they may be difficult to get along with and it takes patience to get to know them, and especially find out their interests. If they are picky about their food, it is possible they are also picky about what they want to do or where to hang out. Not to be confused with close-minded people, though.
  • They never finish their food – Either they have commitment issues, never really finish what they start, easily persuaded, indecisive, or just have small stomach and generally eat less.
  • They will happily eat anything – Perhaps the most fun, friendly, easy-going, and versatile people around. Will enjoy what the present has to offer. Or simply a glutton.

Mind you, not all of this is true to the context though. I just find that some people I know with this particular eating habits often behave and treat others this way. Or I may just overthinking things. Anyway, I have nothing to complain as long as I’m full.

So, just so you know, you can be any kind of people and eat however and whatever you like to eat. And can we agree that food is the best thing to ever happen in our lives? Food, glorious food.
